ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif has directed to reduce loadshedding duration in the country.

Presiding over a meeting here on Wednesday, he said the existing level of load-shedding is unacceptable.

The PM directed bringing down load-shedding to six hours in urban and seven hours in rural areas in next few days.

He directed to shift the fuel supply through Railway to power houses to avoid leakages, pilferage and corruption.

The meeting was informed that 3,500 megawatt electricity will be added to the national grid from hydel sources by the end of this month. Out of this, 1,000 MW will be added to the national grid on Sunday.

Similarly six hundred and thirty MW will be added to the system through additional supply of fuel to Muzaffargarh and Jamshoro power plants.

The PM also directed the reactivation of the dormant power stations.

The meeting besides others was also attended by Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Minister for Information Senator Pervaiz Rashid, Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Minister for Railways Khwaja Saad Rafiq.
