KARACHI (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will inaugurate two coal power projects at Port Qasim in Karachi today (Tuesday), Dunya News reported.
Sindh Governor Ishratul Ibad and Sindh CM Qaim Ali Shah will also attend the ceremony.
Each power plant will produce 660 MW.
Port Qasim Power Plant will have state-of-the-art technology that would produce coal-based, low-cost electricity with minimum environmental impacts and maximum efficiency.
The project is joint venture of Chinese and Qatari companies Sinohydro Resources Limited and Al-Mirqab Capital.
The project costing $2 billion will take 2 to 3 years to be operative.
Later today, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif will also discuss Karachi law and order situation with the Sindh Governor and the Chief Minister Qaim Ali Shah.
