Unscheduled loadshedding: LHC seeks explanation from govt

LAHORE (Dunya News) – Taking notice over the petition filed against unscheduled electricity loadshedding, Chief Justice of Lahore High Court sought explanation from the federal government, Ministry of Water and Power and WAPDA officials.

The petition, filed in Lahore High Court, stated that the Ministry of Water and Power assured the court that unscheduled loadshedding will not be carried out while citizens will only have to bear six hours of power cuts. However, locals were facing 16-18 hours of loadshedding.

LHC Chief justice Umer Ata Bandial sought written explanation from federal government, Ministry of Water and Power and WAPDA officials.

The electricity shortfall increased with the rise in demand after the temperature soared up across the country.

According to report, the urban areas are facing 14 hours and rural areas up to 18 hours of loadshedding.  
Furthermore, business activities were also badly affected due to the prolonged hours of blackouts.
