KARACHI (Dunya News) – Sindh including Karachi is observing day of mourning on the appeal of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) against the extra-judicial killing of its party workers.
Thin traffic was reported on main roads on Friday morning.
Petrol pumps and business outlets were shut in Karachi, Sukkkur, Hyderabad, Tando Wala Yaar, Mirpur Khas and other adjoining areas.
All private and public educational institutions were closed while papers scheduled for today in Karachi University, Sir Syed University, Ned University, Dawood Engineering University, Jinnah Women University were cancelled.
Interboard, matric board and technical board also postponed their examinations.
The transports association also decided to observe strike on the appeal of MQM.
Earlier, MQM announced to observe a day of mourning to protest against the extrajudicial killings of four persons whose bodies were found near Memon Goth area of Karachi on Wednesday night and were identified as MQM workers.
According to MQM Raabta Committee’s Deputy Convener Nasir Jamal, all four deceased belonged to MQM. He said that the victims identified as Sameed, Salman, Faizan and Ali, were kidnapped from Country Tower.
Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah has constituted a committee to probe killing of MQM workers.
