Summary Injured boys are being given special care upon direction of Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif
LAHORE (Dunya News) – As many as 15 young boys sustained burn injuries as someone tried to pop gas balloons with cigarette. The injured were transferred to Jinnah Hospital where they were given imminent treatment, Dunya News reported.
According to reports, gas balloons were released during Walton Bridge’s inauguration ceremony. After making rounds in the air, the balloons ended up in Nishtar colony where a group of young boys tried to catch them. The balloon catching game went wrong when one of them tried to pop the balloons with a lit cigarette. The mishap resulted in burn injuries to as many as 15 boys.
Following the reports, District Coordination Officer (DCO) Lahore visited the hospital along with Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) Imran Nazir to inquire about boys’ health. Imran Nazir said that one of the boys identified as Naveed is critically injured whereas others are out of danger.
Injured boys are being given special care upon direction of Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif and it is also being determined whether the balloons actually exploded through cigarette or something else.
Police recorded boys’ statements and also started collecting evidence from the site in order to investigate the matter further and determine the cause of the incident.
