Summary Government must show seriousness for success of peace talks, the Taliban negotiator said.

PESHAWAR (Web Desk) – Professor Ibrahim, a member of Taliban dialogue committee, has said that matters between the government and army have been complicated over ongoing dialogue process with the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP), Dunya News reported on Friday.

The Taliban demands include releasing 800 prisoners the insurgent group describes as innocent family members and withdrawing the army from parts of the semi-autonomous tribal areas along the border with Afghanistan.

Recently, Pakistan has freed at least seventeen Taliban prisoners with the approval of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, in a move designed to invigorate a shaky peace process with the militant group.

Talking to media, Professor Ibrahim said that government must show seriousness for success of the dialogue process.

He said no contact has been made with the Taliban leadership as yet, however, date and venue of meeting with Taliban shura will be decided soon.

Dialogue between Taliban and the government is the only solution to bring peace in the country, he said.
