LAHORE (Dunya News) - At least three persons died of suffocation and injuries when fire engulfed a plaza in Bakra Mandi area on Wednesday.
According to rescue authorities, fire erupted at 11:20 due to short circuit in a hardware store at Nawankot Band Road that engulfed the three-storey building within some minutes.
The shop owner Mian Shafique immediately came out of the shop while three workers ran to the upper storey but died of suffocation and injuries.
After receiving information of the incident, the rescue teams rushed to the scene and recovered the dead bodied from the building.
According to reports, the shop owner had also stocked furnace oil, chemical and paint that created hurdles for rescue teams in extinguishing the fire.
Police arrested owner of the plaza while dead bodies of the workers were handed over to their families.
