ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has directed immediate formation of National Intelligence Bureau under National Counter Terrorism Authority (NACTA).
The PM has also approved formation of Rapid Response Force at federal and provincial level.
A high level meeting headed by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif was held in Islamabad on Tuesday. The meeting reviewed the national security and security policy in the country.
Top civilian and military leadership including all the four chief ministers, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, other federal ministers, Army Chief General Raheel Sharif, Chief of General Staff Lieutenant General Ashfaq Nadeem and Director General ISI Lieutenant General Zaheerul Islam attended the meeting.
Director General ISI Lt Gen Zaheer ul Islam briefed the participants on the internal security.
According to the sources, the participants of the meeting agreed to implement the national security policy to end terrorism in the country.
The meeting also reviewed efficiency of federal and provincial law enforcement agencies and new legislation to tackle terrorism.
Speaking on this occasion, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said it is the high time to take final decision to overcome this menace and bring peace to the country.
He said the federal government will extend all resources to the provinces to implement national security policy for eliminating terrorism.
The PM said that economic progress is deeply attacked with peace and all institutions and provincial governments should jointly work for restoration of peace in the country.
He said the provinces should fully take advantage of the laws mentioned in Protection of Pakistan Ordinance.
The PM said that the provinces should file cases within appropriate timing after collecting concrete evidences against dangerous criminals.
Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif directed to construct new jails equipped with modern security system in the four provinces. The meeting also decided to provide one bomb disposal vehicle to each province.
