ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – Former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf has decided to appear before court and face treason trial after consultation with close friends and defense attorneys, Dunya News reported on Sunday.
According to reports, Musharraf will meet his lawyers at the hospital tomorrow (Monday). Sources also said that Musharraf and his legal defense team have prepared a plea to be filed after appearance before court.
It is pertinent to mention here that special bench hearing Musharraf’s treason trial had ordered the former president to appear before court on February 18 with a warning that failure to appear before court will result in issuance of non-bailable arrest-warrants. Court also said that the extension until February 18 was given upon assurance from Musharaf’s attorney Anwar Mansoor.
Prior to that, court had ordered Musharraf to appear before court on February 7 in its verdict issued on January 31. Court had also summoned Musharraf’s bail guarantor General (r) Rashid Qureshi to appear on February 18.
