LAHORE (Web Desk) - After killing of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jamat (ASWJ) leader Maulana Shams Ur Rehman Muawiya, activists of the party have started protests in different parts of the country demanding immediate arrest of those involved in the killing.

After Friday prayers, Shamsur Rehman Muawiya, the chief of Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jammat (ASWJ) for Punjab province, was travelling by car to the northern Harbans Pura neighbourhood when unidentified gunmen attacked his car.

In protest against the incident today, the ASWJ workers continued their sit-in with their slain leader s body in front of Masjid-e-Shuhda on Mall Road.

Funeral prayers of Shamsur Rehman were scheduled to be offered after Duhr prayers today (Saturday) but the workers have decided to continue protest until a government representative shows up and listens to their demands.

Meanwhile, the road has been blocked from Chairing Cross to Town Hall and heavy contingent of police personnel have been deployed on the roads to avert any untoward incident.
