RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) – Workers of Ahle Sunnat Wal Jammat (ASWJ) are staging protest in Islamabad against the brutal killing of their leader Maulana Shams-ur-Rehman.

The protesters staged a sit-in at Faizabad flyover and blocked the entry points in Islamabad. The ASWJ activists also blocked Murree Road and Express Way for all types of traffic.

Meanwhile, SSP Operation Dr Rizwan said that 400 police personnel were deployed in the area to avoid any untoward incident. People coming to Islamabad were given alternate way, he added.

Ahle Sunnat Wal Jammat’s president for Punjab Maulana Shams-ur-Rehman was shot dead on Ravi Road Friday afternoon.

Maulana Shamsur Rehman was on his way back to home when unidentified gunmen opened fire on his car, killing him on spot.

The post-mortem report stated that ASWJ leader was shot three bullets.

Following his killing, a large number of followers staged sit-in on mall road and forcibly closed shops in Anarkali.
