PESHAWAR (Online) - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Senior Minister Sikandar Hayat Khan Sherpao on Tuesday asked the federal government to release the arrears of the net hydel profit to the province.
Speaking at a press conference at the Watan Kor, central secretariat of Qaumi Watan Party, he said the arrears of the net hydel profit should be paid to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in accordance with the AGN Kazi formula.
On the occasion, Awami National Party leader and former nazim Ali Khan, Iftikhar Ahmad, Zeeshan Khan, Shehzad Khan, Sohail Afzal and others hailing from Shabqadar tehsil in Charsadda district announced joining QWP along with their families.
Sikandar Sherpao, who is provincial chairman of QWP, expressed concern over the 30 percent cut in the Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP) and said that it would slow down the development of the smaller federating units.
The senior minister called upon the federal government to help the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government build the capacity of the personnel of the law-enforcing agencies so that they could effectively maintain law and order.
He said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was self-sufficient in the production of gas and electricity, but regretted the prolonged power and gas outages in the province.
Sikandar Sherpao paid glowing tributes to the slain personnel of the security forces and said the nation was proud of the armed forces for rendering sacrifices for the restoration of peace.
He said QWP had always raised voice for the rights of the Pakhtuns and would never let them down. He welcomed the new entrants into the party’s fold and expressed the wish that they would work to strengthen the part at the grassroots.
