ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - The Supreme Court has framed contempt of court charges against the Defence Secretary Asif Yaseen for not holding local bodies’ elections in the cantonment areas.
The counsel of the secretary has rejected the charges.
A three-member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry heard the case.
Late last month, the Defence Secretary had also filed a written apology to the apex court expressing regret for not honouring his undertaking of holding local body elections in cantonment boards.
The Supreme Court has directed the defence secretary to hold local government elections in all 43 cantonment boards of the country.
