ISLAMABAD (Online) - The Senate was informed on Tuesday that government is acquiring fourteen used aircraft to address the public issues on immediate basis.

Minister for Kashmir Affairs and Gilgit-Baltistan Chaudhary Muhammad Birjees Tahir on behalf of Minister Incharge Aviation Division told the House during question hour that four used aircraft will be acquired on lease from Turkey for four months so that reservations of people especially the Quetta passengers could be resolved.

He said another fleet of ten used aircraft will be acquired on lease for two years.

To a question‚ the Minister said out of thirty-four‚ twenty-three PIA planes are operational while eleven are in workshops for maintenance.

Replying to a question‚ Minister of State for Privatization Khurram Dastgir Khan told the House that the investment portfolio of State Life Insurance Corporation is 351‚246 million rupees.

He said these investments are made in government securities‚ corporate debts‚ equities‚ bank deposits‚ property and loan to policy holders sectors.

He said the corporation normally reinvests its profits to further strengthen its finances and sometimes the board of the corporation also distributes the profit among the policy holders.
