KP governor apprises US envoy on political reforms in FATA

PESHAWAR (Web Desk) - The US Ambassador to Pakistan Richard Olson called on the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Engineer Shaukatullah at Governor’s House on Tuesday.

The distinguished guest who was also accompanied by the Peshawar based US Consul General Mr. Gabriel Escobar remained with the governor for some time and discussed matters of mutual interest.

The pace of progress on US Aid funded development projects especially in education and communication sectors also came under discussion and the governor highlighted their importance in ensuring better opportunities for educating youth of both the province and FATA particularly from their socio-economic point of view.

Talking on various points, the governor apprised the US Ambassador about the political reforms introduced in FATA coupled with the ongoing process of strengthening of administrative system to protect basic rights of the respective people and ensure stability and security in the area. All these measures, he added, have been accruing highly positive response and the government is heading forward in line with the aspirations of the people of FATA.

Referring to potential for economic development in FATA, the governor said that the mineral deposits offers tremendous opportunities for economic development and generate employment opportunities and concrete measures are under way for its development.  This sector, he added, also offers vast opportunities of investments both in respect of industrialization and promotion trade and business activities.
