LAHORE (Dunya News) The Lahore High Court issued stay-order against tax collection under the guise of Benazir Income Support Programme.
LHC justice Aijazul Hassan resumed hearing of the case when learned counsel on the part of the petitioner Adnan Jalil argued that the government is collecting tax worth Rs 0.5 from the depositors having amount exceeds to one million rupees. It is diametrically against the article 25 of the constitution.
The petitioner prayed to the court that special stay-order should be ordered against this illegal action of the government.
The court while declaring the petition maintainable has issued stay-order against the tax collection under BISP and sought an explanation from the federal government within 15 days in this regard.
