Summary Interior Minister assures NA the culprits involved in Peshawar blasts will be brought to justice.
ISLAMABAD: Minister for Interior Ch Nisar Ali Khan has said that a meeting of the Christian leaders is being convened within the next few days to evolve a national-level plan for the security of places of worship, and resolution of other problems of the minorities.
He was making a policy statement on Peshawar Church carnage on the floor the National Assembly Monday afternoon.
Nisar said the repair of the Peshawar Church would be carried out at government s expense.
The minister said one militant group had claimed responsibility for the attack and the government would follow the said group after getting due information.
He informed the House that death toll in Sunday’s blasts in Peshawar had reached eighty-one, including thirty-four women and seven children.
He said one hundred and thirty-seven people were injured in the incident and ten of them were in critical condition.
He assured the House that the culprits involved in this terrorist incident will be traced and brought to justice.
He said a policy‚ plan and infrastructure would be prepared for the security of the places of worship.
“We should give a message of unity on this occasion and should not do politics on such kind of tragedies,” he said, adding joint efforts were needed to counter the terrorists.
The interior minister said a group had accepted the responsibility of the incident but he said it was doubtful because that group has no presence over there.
Giving details of the incident‚ he said it happened at 11.40 am when the Christian community was busy in worship.
He said there were four security personnel on duty, including a Sub-Inspector‚ Head Constable and two FC Jawans.
He said one suicide bomber entered the Church and blew him. In this attack FC Jawan Zahid Gul was also martyred and Police Head Constable injured.
The other bomber entered the courtyard of the church from the other side, and blew him up.
The minister appreciated the role of Christian leaders and priests who demonstrated patience and also asked the people remain peaceful.
He offered every kind of help by the federal government to the KPK government, particularly for treatment of the injured.
The House also offered Fateha for the martyred security personnel in the blasts.
