President Zardari applauded the government s decision not to call in Pakistan Army for maintaining peace in Karachi during a meeting with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who recently visited the metropolis in the wake of increasing violence.
President Zardari expressed confidence over the decisions to bring normalcy back to the city. During the meeting, which took place at the President House here on Thursday, both leaders agreed on cooperation between the federal and Sindh government to maintain peace in the port city.
Both the leaders expressed resolve to jointly work to strengthen democracy and democratic institutions and to resolve problems facing the country.
Meanwhile‚ Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is hosting a farewell lunch in honor of outgoing President Asif Ali Zardari in Islamabad today. Members of the federal cabinet and political leaders from different parties have been invited to attend the luncheon. It is pertinent to mention that President Asif Ali Zardari after completing his five year tenture will vacate the office on Sunday and Mr Mamnoon Hussain will take oath of the office
