KARACHI (Dunya News) – The spokesman of Prime Minister House has clarified that Zulifqar Cheema has not been appointed as Inspector General of Police Sindh.
Earlier, it was reported that the federal government had appointed Zulfiqar Cheema as Inspector General Sindh Police.
Meanwhile, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah expressed his annoyance at the decision of removal of Sindh IGP without his consent.
Talking to Dunya News Sindh Information Minister Sharjeel Memon said that the federal government was pushing the province towards Governor’s Rule and the PML-N was repeating politics of 90s.
He said that the Sindh government and PPP would resist the appointment of Zulfiqar Cheema as Sindh IGP.
Sharjeel said that Zulfiqar Cheema was favourite officer of the government and his brother is sitting MNA of PML-N from Gujranwala.
He said that the mandate of Opposition parties should be respected and they must be taken on board on decisions to strengthen democracy and restore law and order in the country.
Earlier, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif while chairing cabinet meeting in Karachi in order to review law and order situation on Wednesday said that government was not in a hurry to launch any operation in Karachi.
The meeting was also attended by the Provincial Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad and Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah.
