Summary Says special courts would be established to restore law and order in the metropolis.

KARACHI (Dunya News) - Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif while chairing cabinet meeting in Karachi in order to review law and order situation on Wednesday said that government is not in hurry to launch any operation in Karachi for restoration of peace and tranquility in the metropolis. 

The meeting was also attended by the Provincial Governor Dr. Ishratul Ibad and chief minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah.

He added that police force are not able to cope with violence in the city as majority of them were recruited on political grounds.

He said that all stakeholders would be taken into confidence before taking any practical action against miscreants who apparently seem more powerful as compared to law enforcement agencies.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has said a concerted and sustained campaign will be launched for restoration of law and order in Karachi.

He suggested Rangers should be given the responsibility to carry out the operation in the city as police are not capable to deal with the criminal elements and terrorists.

He termed the demand for army operation in the city as too early.

The meeting also is being attended by the governor and chief ministers of Sindh.

The Prime Minister said that the government is devising short and long term policies to ensure law and order situation and a team of legal experts is reviewing the situation in this regard.

He said that neutral people will monitor the action to be taken for restoration of peace in Karachi.

The Prime Minister stressed on enhancing the capabilities of the police and law enforcement agencies.

He said that action will be taken against four hundred and fifty people involved in serious crimes.

The Prime Minister said that the government will devise national policy to eliminate illegal mobile phone Sims.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif said that it is in impression among the people that police and law enforcement agencies have failed to check criminal activities in Karachi.
