On July 5, 1977 former military dictator General Zia-ul-Haq imposed martial law in the country dismissing the government of PPP led by their founder leader Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto.
During his11 years regime including Zulfiqar Ali Bhutto every member of PPP was treated with cruelty by giving them punishments of lashing to death penalties.
Members PPP said that during that dark regime even blind women and journalists were also inflicted lashes.
