KARACHI (Dunya News) – Business activities in interior Sindh including Karachi remain suspended today (Saturday) as Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) observes day of mourning against killing of its lawmaker Sajid Qureshi.
The MQM announced three days of mourning throughout across the country in protest of the killing of MPA Sajid Qureshi and his young son on Friday.
Shops were closed and commercial activities were suspended in most parts of the city today. Thin transport was witnessed on the roads and fuel stations remained shut.
MQM coordination committee appealed to the traders and transporters to keep their businesses closed on Saturday.
On the other hand, examinations were also postponed in the metropolis.
MQM MPA Sajid Qureshi, 52, was coming out of a mosque in North Nazimabad after Friday prayers when three gunmen on a motorcycle opened fire on him. His 28-year-old son Waqas was also killed in the incident.
Mr Qureshi, elected from PS-103, is the first member of the new Sindh Assembly and among three MQM legislators killed over the past three years. The other two were Raza Haider and Manzar Imam.
