Summary Says Islamabad to be made a model city as far as security and public services are concerned.

 

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - Federal Interior Minister Ch Nisar Ahmad has said security personnel belonging to army, Rangers and FC would be withdrawn from the VIPs’ security staff, except for the President, PM and Chief Justice of Pakistan.

 

Announcing a security plan Thursday for Islamabad in a press conference here, he said the strength of Rangers and FC cannot be staked by using them for personal security of VIPs.

 

He said a task force would be formed to address the issue of missing persons that would work in consultation with the organistaions active for their cause.

 

Nisar also announced measures to bring sanity back to Islamabad roads by improving the traffic system.


In this connection he ordered the removal of barriers from the exit points at the roads and strict implementation of traffic rules.


A drive against non-registered vehicles and under-age drivers would also be launched, he said.

 

He pledged that all toll plazas, including Golra Sharif Plaza, would be scrapped after the completion of the terms of current contracts, adding no new contract will be issued after the expiry of current ones, he said.

 

The interior minister said police stations and land record in Islamabad would be computerized in three months.

 

“Action will be taken against one-wheeler and unruly youth around public policy and law will take its course no matter how influential is the family of the law-breaking youth.”

 

About the interior ministry working, he said no ministry employee would be allowed to meet any foreigner national.

 

He said he was surprised to see that foreigners were visiting the interior minister freely.


“How can interior ministry be so irresponsible when the country is virtually in a state of war,” he said.

 

He said forest areas in the capital would be protected by introduction of GIS mapping system, adding indiscriminate actions would be taken against the forest area encroachers.


Parks in the less-developed areas of the capital would be uplifted, and criminal elements would not be allowed to use the parks for immoral activities.

 

He said a door-to-door survey would be conducted to document the record of house servants. He urged citizens to cooperate with the mobile teams that would conduct a house-to-house survey.
