Summary Former NAB head, required in case making assets beyond means, was arrested with Interpol.

 

ISLAMABAD (Online) - National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has detained Lt. Gen (Retd) Zahid Ali Akbar, former Chairman WAPDA, allegedly involved in case of making assets beyond means to the tune of Rs. 267.61 million.

 

The detention has been made with the help of Interpol and he is presently detained in Bosnia. His detention has been made possible after the hectic efforts which the Bureau was making for the last three months through international agencies, according to NAB spokesperson.

 

All legal formalities are being completed to bring back the ex-Chairman WAPDA Gen (Retd) Zahid Ali Akbar back to Pakistan. A reference against him for making assets beyond known sources of income is pending before
Accountability Court Lahore since July 2006. He was declared proclaimed offender by the Court on May 10, 2007.
