MUZAFFARGARH (Dunya News) - Former MNA Jamshed Dasti was sentenced to three years in prison with a fine of Rs 5000 on Thursday by a local court. He was arrested from the court room.

On Wednesday, addressing a press conference in Multan Jamshed Dasti had said that he would surrender to police if the court convicted him.

He said he was being forced not to contest election and if he would not contest all the cases against him would end.
Jamshed Dasti had announced neither he nor any member of his family would participate in the general elections.

He said the path he had adopted was difficult because he could not fight against the feudalism.

“I never thought that I could contest an election but the down trodden and poor peasants of the area stood with me and elected me as their representative’ Dasti said.

It is worth mentioning here that the Supreme Court on Wednesday had indicted Jamshed Dasti in fake degree case.
