Summary ECP secretary says the process of scrutiny will be completed till April 7th.

 

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Election Commission of Pakistan has so far received 20182 nomination papers for the national and provincial assemblies upcoming general elections. These include 6522 national and 13660 of provincial assemblies nomination papers.

 

For national assembly elections from Balochistan 345‚ Islamabad 147‚ Khyber Pakhtoonkhwa 1280‚ Punjab 3092‚ Sindh 1496 and for Minorities 162 nomination papers have been received.

 

After completion of the process the commission has so far sent 4612 National Assembly and 8701 provincial assemblies nomination papers to the concerned Returning Officers.

 

Election Commission of Pakistan Secretary Ishtiak Ahmad said the process of scrutiny would be completed by the 7th of this month. He said the commission is devising a strategy to monitor the activities of around 500 Returning Officers online to eliminate the chances of any foul play.

 

On the other hand, The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has formed nine tribunals to hear appeals against nomination papers for the upcoming general elections.

 

Five tribunals have been formed in Punjab, two in Sindh and one each in Peshawar and Quetta. Appeals from NA-48 and 49 which are Islamabad constituencies will be heard by the Rawalpindi tribunal.
