Summary Corps Commanders Conference approved the security of sensitive polling stations during elections.

 

RAWALPINDI (Dunya News) - Corps Commanders Conference was held at General Headquarters Rawalpindi on Wednesday.


Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani presided over the conference. The conference discussed security needs of sensitive areas during the elections.


According to the sources, the military leadership approved the deployment of Pakistan Army troops at the sensitive polling stations during the upcoming general elections.


Pakistan Army would be deployed only to control law and order situation while the district administration would exercise the power to send the troops at any sensitive station.


The sources added that 45000 to 50000 army troops would be deployed at the sensitive polling stations.


The sources further said that 28000 polling stations could be declared sensitive in different areas across the country particularly in Balochistan, tribal areas and Karachi.
