Containers case: FBR ordered to recover custom duty within 2 weeks

ISLAMABAD: Announcing the interim order in ISAF containers implementation case, the Supreme Court (SC) has ordered FBR Chairman for the recovery of the losses from the accused within two weeks and directed him to personally report during the next hearing of the case.

 

A three-member bench of the apex court, headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, heard the ISAF containers implementation case.

 

Earlier on Monday, the Court was informed that an amount of Rs54.73 billion had been embezzled in the International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) containers’ case and the people involved in looting money have got stay orders from High Court.

 

Reports had said that about 28,000 containers originally meant for international forces in Afghanistan under the Afghan Transit Trade (ATT) agreement, had gone missing from the Karachi port. These containers were carrying supplies for the international forces in Afghanistan.
