Summary SC has declared the reply filed by former acting DG of IB as confidential in secret fund case.

 

ISLAMABAD: A three-member bench of SC led by the Chief Justice of Pakistan Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took up for hearing the case with regard to use of IB secret funds for pulling down Punjab government Friday.


During the course of hearing, Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Shafi Chandio and legal director IB Naveeda Noor and Tariq Lodhi appeared in the court.


Tariq Lodhi while filing his reply prayed the court that his reply be kept secret and he be allowed to go abroad. The court granted his request.


The court was told in the reply sent by registrar Lahore High Court (LHC) that the reference sent by former president Ghulam Ishaq Khan against Benazir Bhutto was not only made part of the record on March, 26, 1997 but also the case was disposed off.


The court directed the Attorney General (AG) to file his reply with it till February, 26 in respect of Lahore High Court decision and the legal points raised by the incumbent DG IB.


The court adjourned the hearing till February, 26 directing the AG to file reply on the use of IB secret funds for political purposes.
