LHC gives last chance to defend PM's eligibility

Summary Lahore High Court has given a final deadline to government to defend Prime Minister's eligibility.

During the hearing, the petitioner stated that Prime Minister Yousaf Raza Gilani should be declared ineligible as he is violating article 62 of the constitution. The petitioner further explained that PM is deceiving masses by not implementing all court’s decision.Adjourning the hearing till April 20, the bench headed by LHC Chief Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed said that the court has already given extra time to the government to reply in this case. Therefore, April 20 should be taken as final deadline.The petition has been filed by advocate A.K. Dogar for the disqualification of Prime Minister stating thatthe PM had committed treason and subversion of the constitution by deliberately defying orders by the Supreme Court in many sensitive cases including the National Reconciliation Ordinance, re-opening of Zardari’s Swiss accounts, corruption cases and appointments on key posts.
