Summary PM Gilani inaugurated expansion of Mirpur University, RBTV station and announced Mirpur airport.
Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani has said that development of Azad Kashmir and the welfare of its people is the top most priority of the present government.He was addressing a public meeting after inaugurating expansion project of Mirpur University and Bhimber Rebroadcast station of Pakistan Television in Mirpur on Monday.He said special focus has been given to the reconstruction and rehabilitation of infrastructure damaged by the natural calamities including earthquake and floods. Necessary funds have been provided for that purpose.Prime Minister Gilani said majority of projects mostly health and education related have been completed in the quake affected areas of Azad Kashmir while others are at various stages of completion.He said the people of Pakistan and Azad Kashmir share deep historical‚ geographical and religious bonds. The love between the two runs through the bloods of the people and this love and brotherhood will continue to grow in future as well.The Prime Minister said Pakistan Peoples Party was founded on the name of Kashmir cause and it will continue to extend political‚ moral and diplomatic support for the just cause of Kashmiris.On the issue of load shedding in Azad Kashmir‚ the prime minister directed the Ministry of Water and Power to take steps for the resolution of the problem.Emphasizing on the promotion of science and technological education‚ Prime Minister Gilani expressed the confidence that the youth will equip themselves with the contemporary trends for the socio economic uplift of the country.On the occasion‚ the Prime Minister announced fifty to sixty million rupees for the medical college in Poonch which has been completed with the assistance of United Arab Emirates. He also gave cheque worth ten million rupees for the construction of hostel in Mirpur University of Science and Technology.He directed the Information Minister to shift Radio Pakistan Tararkhal from Rawalpindi to Poonch to meet the education and information needs of the area.
