Summary Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said cops having shoulder promotion should be reverted.

Three-member bench of Supreme Court headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry conducted hearing of Wahida Shah’s case in which she inflicted violence against an employ of Election Commission. Sindh IG Hyder Jamal said that legal action was being taken against police officers present on the occasion when Wahida Shah misbehaved a professor who was rendering her services on a polling station. He also said that the DSP, present on the occasion, had been given shoulder promotion.He said that department is taking action against undeserving cops who are enjoying promotion without meeting the criteria.He said that transparent system is indispensable for keeping law and order in its real sense, adding that the only transparent system may guarantee rule of law.While passing his comments, the Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry said that only deserving police officers should be promoted; that is only way of fairplay and justice.
