Dianas Iconic John Travolta dress sold for $821,000

The midnight-blue silk velvet dress worn by Princess of Whales when she danced with John Travolta was sold for $821,000 at a Toronto auction that featured some of late princess well-known designer gowns.The famous velvet dress was designed by Victor Edelstein. Princess Diana wore the Edwardian-inspired gown while taking a memorable spin on the dance floor with Travolta during a 1985 White House state dinner. Prior to the auction the expected price of the iconic gown was between 800,000 and 1 million Canadian dollars. It will take a few days to compile a final tally of all 14 dresses sold at the collection.Most of the dresses were estimated between $175,000 and $550,000 but the show-stopping blue velvet “John Travolta” dress was to go for up to $1 million; the entire collection is expected to fetch up to $6 million.
