Summary Pakistan and India’s open universities have pledged to promote quality education.

 

ISLAMABAD: Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU) and Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) will exchange their experience and expertise for promoting and expanding quality education at various academic levels.


It was decided during the meeting held between the Vice Chancellor of AIOU Prof. Dr. Nazir Ahmed Sangi and the Vice Chancellor IGNOU Prof. Gopinath Pradhan in New Delhi. Dr. Nazir Sangi was there for attending the meeting of Advisory Council of Commonwealth Educational Media Center for Asia (CEMCA).


This was a sideline meeting to discuss ways and means strengthening bilateral cooperation in the education field. It was agreed that the two universities will also cooperate in capacity-building and training of their academic staff.

 

They will also cooperate in designing and introducing necessary academic courses to promote tourism between the two countries.


The two sides will share relevant academic research material/resources to improve and expand quality of education. They will have regular interaction to achieve the desired objectives.


Dr. Nazir Ahmed Sangi during his three-day stay in New Delhi also held a meeting with the senior officials of India’s National Institute of Open schooling.

 

It was agreed that the two institutions will collaborate with each other for promoting primary and secondary-level education, through distance- learning system. It was also agreed that they will also facilitate in training of their staff and designing of skill-based academic courses.
