'Stand up for Malala - Stand up for Girls' Right to Education'

Summary Pakistan and UNESCO will organise a high-level advocacy in Paris on December 10.

 

RIYADH: Pakistani Ambassador to Saudi Arabia Muhammad Naeem Khan, Monday, said that UNESCO and the Government of Pakistan would host a high-level advocacy in Paris on 10 December.


The high level advocacy is entitled "Stand up for Malala - Stand up for Girls’ Right to Education" he said while addressing the 11th Session of the General Conference of the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO)here.


The event, coinciding with the United Nations’ Human Rights Day, is designed to generate political will and accelerate action in favour of every girl’s right to go to school and will be attended by the President of Pakistan Mr. Asif Ali Zardari.

The Ambassador emphasized that Pakistan attached high priority to the issue of Palestine and the city of Al-Quds Al-Sharif. He extended his felicitations to all member states on the successful voting in the UN General Assembly on recognition of Palestine as a Non-Member Observer State.


He informed the gathering that Pakistan had taken strides in the field of education during the last few years and that it is earnestly trying, in consort with all stake-holders, to achieve the six Education for All (EFA) Goals agreed upon in Dakar in the year 2000.


The Ambassador paid tributes to the Director General of ISESCO and the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz for their numerous contributions for promoting intercultural dialogue and joint Islamic action. He also expressed good wishes for the health and long life of King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz.
