Summary The government has decided to import 700,000 tons of fertilizer for Rabi crops.
Decision to this affect was made in a meeting chaired by Senior Federal Minister for Industries Chaudhry Pervez Elahi. The meeting was also attended among others by Advisor to the Prime Minister on Industries Muhammad Bashrat Raja, Federal Secretary Industries Aziz Ahmad Bilour, Federal Secretary Finance Dr Waqar Masood Khan, Federal Secretary Commerce Zafar Mehmood, Chairman National Fertilizer Corporation of Pakistan Muhammad Khalid Malik, Managing Director National Fertilizer Marketing Limited and Chairman Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TCP) and representatives of Ministry of Petroleum and Natural resources. It was decided that 0.7 million tons of fertilizer would be imported through Trading Corporation of Pakistan (TDAP) to be distributed to the farming community as input for Rabi crops.Speaking on the occasion Chaudhry Pervez Elahi said that Pakistan is an agricultural country and the sector is playing the back bone for economy of the country. He assured the farmers that their requirement for Rabi season would be fulfilled in a transparent and efficient manner so that the farming community should not face any problem in getting their required inputs to the agriculture sector.
