Sotheby's New York previewed some of the stunnig diamonds it is set to sell. The center piece of the sale is the Magnificent Large Oval Diamond. With more than 30 carats, it has an estimated value of 3.3 million dollars. It is D-color, which is the best color. It is flawless, which means flawless inside and out, and it is type IIA, that lack of nitrogen making it whiter than white, excellent polish, excellent symmetry, said Lisa Hubbard, chairman of North and South America for Sotheby's international jewelry division. Another core of the sale is the jewelry collection owned by Lucia Moreira Salles, who was a Brazilian model in the 1960's and 1970's for Chanel and Valentino. Moreira Salles did not inherit any of her jewelry but acquired each piece herself, wearing them frequently. The collection reflects her personal taste and style. The three rings that are up for the bidding are colored stones that were set by JAR, one of the leading designers in the current jewelry world, based in Paris. Sotheby's Magnificent Jewels auction will take place in New York on December 9th.
