TEHRAN (Dunya News) - Iran’s Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has said that Tehran is continuing negotiations with the United States while remaining fully prepared for any possible escalation amid rising tensions.
Speaking in a televised statement, Ghalibaf, who also heads the negotiating team, said Iran does not trust its adversaries and warned that the situation could deteriorate at any moment.
He stated that Tehran does not rely on its enemies and that conflict could intensify at any time.
According to Iran’s semi-official news agency Mehr News Agency, Ghalibaf made it clear that while Iran is pursuing diplomatic engagement, it is simultaneously ready to respond to any potential threats.
He further emphasized that negotiations remain important under current circumstances, but taking necessary measures to ensure national security is equally essential. His remarks are being seen as a significant signal in the context of ongoing regional tensions.
Experts believe that Iran’s approach of “negotiation alongside preparedness” reflects Tehran’s intent to keep diplomatic channels open while also staying ready for any possible confrontation.
