Colorado resident Jack Wilkany decided to make the occasion special for his girlfriend, Joanne, by using gold he had personally collected rather than purchasing a ready-made engagement ring.
To fulfil his plan, Jack spent several months searching for gold flakes in different rivers across Colorado. After persistent efforts, he managed to collect a sufficient quantity of gold and handed it over to local jeweller Zach Allen, who melted the precious metal and crafted it into a beautiful engagement ring.
According to jeweller Zach Allen, the project was a unique experience because the gold used to make the ring had been personally collected by Jack.
Once the ring was ready, Jack took his girlfriend, Joanne, on a hiking trip. During the outing, he showed her a video on his mobile phone documenting his gold-searching efforts. Initially, Joanne could not understand the significance of what she was watching.
