NEW DELHI (Dunya News) – Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day was celebrated with traditional enthusiasm and fervour at the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi.
A ceremony was held at the High Commission, attended by Pakistan’s Charge d’Affaires Saad Ahmad Warraich, diplomatic officials, staff members and their families.
Warraich hoisted the national flag at the chancery’s lawn to mark the occasion.
Messages from President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif were also read out during the ceremony.
In his address, the Pakistani chargé d’affaires highlighted the importance of the Two-Nation Theory and said the creation of Pakistan fulfilled the long-standing aspiration of Muslims of the subcontinent to determine their own future.
Children presented national songs and tableaus at the Independence Day ceremony.
Independence Day celebrated at Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka
Pakistan’s Independence Day was also celebrated with enthusiasm at the Pakistan High Commission in Dhaka, Bangladesh.
High Commissioner Imran Haider hoisted the national flag at the ceremony, followed by the national anthem.
According to the High Commission, a large number of Pakistani citizens living in Bangladesh, Bangladeshi friends, students, journalists and civil society representatives attended the event.
Messages from the President, Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar were read out on the occasion.
Prizes and certificates were also distributed among Bangladeshi students who participated in an essay-writing competition titled “Historical Places of Pakistan”, organised by the High Commission.
