KARACHI (Dunya News) – A solemn guard change ceremony was held at Mazar-e-Quaid in Karachi on the occasion of Pakistan’s 79th Independence Day, as the nation marked the day with national spirit and enthusiasm.
The 79th Independence Day is being celebrated across the country with patriotic fervor. The celebrations began with a 21-gun salute, while special prayers were offered during Fajr prayers for the country’s development, unity, peace and prosperity.
A guard change ceremony was held at the mausoleum of Pakistan’s founder, Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, in Karachi.
Smartly turned-out cadets of the Pakistan Naval Academy assumed ceremonial guard duties at Mazar-e-Quaid. Pakistan Naval Academy cadets take over the responsibility every year on August 14.
The Pakistan Navy’s ceremonial guard at the mausoleum comprises two contingents. One contingent consists of Pakistan Navy sailors, while the other comprises cadets of the Pakistan Naval Academy.
The chief guest at the ceremony, Commandant Pakistan Naval Academy Rear Admiral Muhammad Umair, laid a floral wreath at Mazar-e-Quaid and offered Fateha.
