Summary PTI threatens to boycott budget session, citing denied meetings with Imran Khan and calling for public relief measures.
ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar has warned that the party may boycott the upcoming budget session if meetings with party founder Imran Khan are not arranged by tomorrow.
Speaking in the National Assembly, Barrister Gohar said that despite court orders, meetings with the PTI founder have not been facilitated for the past 34 weeks. He added that if access is not granted by the deadline, PTI would boycott the budget proceedings.
He urged the Speaker of the National Assembly to issue a ruling on the matter. In response, the Speaker said that if Imran Khan were a member of the House, production orders could have been issued, adding that multiple attempts were made to bring the government and opposition to the table, but cooperation was lacking.
Following the exchange, PTI lawmakers staged a walkout from the assembly in protest.
Later, speaking to media, Barrister Gohar said the upcoming budget would not be “people-friendly” and stressed that relief should be provided to the public amid already high inflation.
