RAWALPINDI/TEHRAN (Dunya News) – Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, has concluded a short but “highly productive” official visit to Iran, marking another step in Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic efforts linked to US-Iran mediation and regional de-escalation initiatives.

During the visit to Tehran, the top military commander held high-level engagements with senior Iranian leadership as part of wider efforts aimed at promoting constructive dialogue, reducing tensions, and supporting stability in a region that has remained sensitive following the ceasefire on 8th April 2026.

He called on Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, Speaker of Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and Interior Minister Eskandar Momeni during a series of intensive meetings held over the past 24 hours.

According to official accounts, the discussions remained focused on accelerating an ongoing consultative process aimed at supporting peace and stability in the region and working towards a conclusive diplomatic understanding. The talks were described as taking place in a positive and constructive environment, with emphasis on sustained engagement rather than escalation.
