President, PM Shehbaz urge protection and dignity for workers on Labour Day

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, in their messages on International Labour Day, have called on the business community, industrialists, and relevant stakeholders to ensure the dignity and protection of the country’s workforce.

In his message, President Zardari said that a nation which protects its workers safeguards its future. He emphasized that empowering labourers is the foundation of sustainable national strength.

He added that Pakistan remains committed to upholding international labour standards and promoting basic workplace rights, including fair wages, social security, elimination of forced and child labour, and ending discrimination.

Mohsin Naqvi pays tribute to workers on International Labour Day

On the occasion, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif also paid tribute to workers in Pakistan and around the world, particularly the country’s labour force.

He said that the sacrifices of working-class people keep society functioning and that these selfless individuals deserve the highest recognition.

The prime minister noted that labourers and skilled workers both within the country and abroad reflect Pakistan’s capability, hard work, and professional expertise.

He highlighted that millions of overseas Pakistanis serve as ambassadors of national strength and identity.

He further stated that remittances sent by overseas Pakistanis significantly contribute to economic stability, adding that the government has taken special steps to enhance skills and professional training for the workforce.
