French President Macron commends Pakistan's role in Iran-US talks

Summary President Emmanuel Macron conveyed his good wishes to the prime minister for the success of the upcoming peace talks in Islamabad

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - French President Emmanuel Macron called Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and congratulated him on Pakistan's mediation efforts that resulted in a ceasefire between Iran and the United States.

During their warm and cordial conversation, the French President acknowledged Pakistan's role in bringing both sides to the negotiating table.

President Emmanuel Macron conveyed his good wishes to the prime minister for the success of the upcoming peace talks in Islamabad.

While thanking the French President for supporting Pakistan's diplomatic efforts, the prime minister reaffirmed that Pakistan would continue to strive for peace and stability in the region.

Both leaders also expressed serious concern over the ongoing aggression in Lebanon and stressed the urgent need to end the violence and killings so that peace could be re-established across the region.

The negotiations between United States and Iran are set to begin in Islamabad from April 10.

Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Saeed Khatibzadeh stated that the Iranian delegation will be led by Speaker of Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.

Meanwhile, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed that the US delegation will include Vice President JD Vance, advisor Steve Witkoff, and Jared Kushner.

On this occasion, authorities in Islamabad and its twin city Rawalpindi have announced a two-day public holiday.
