Islamabad court acquits Fawad Chaudhry in fraud case

An Islamabad court acquitted former minister Fawad Chaudhry in a fraud case, citing insufficient evidence and complainant’s lack of interest during proceedings.
ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The District and Sessions Court in Islamabad on Wednesday acquitted former federal minister Fawad Chaudhry in a fraud case.
The hearing was conducted at the District and Sessions Courts Islamabad, where Judicial Magistrate Shaista Kundi conducted the proceedings. After reviewing the matter, the court announced Chaudhry’s acquittal.
Fawad Chaudhry appeared before the court along with his lawyers, Shamas Iqbal Advocate and Qamar Inayat Raja Advocate. The complainant, Malik Muhammad Zaheer, was also present in court; however, his counsel Farhan Manzoor did not appear.
During arguments on the acquittal plea, Chaudhry’s lawyer Shamas Iqbal stated that the evidence against his client was insufficient. He further noted that the complainant’s lack of interest was also evident before the court.
The defense maintained that the court, as guardian of the law, must decide the case based on available evidence. Following the review of records, the court accepted the plea and acquitted Fawad Chaudhry.
