Shaban moon not sighted, Shab-e-Barat to be observed on Feb 3

ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) - The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee on Monday announced that the Shaban moon was not sighted anywhere in the country.
The announcement was made by Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad.
The first of Shaban-ul-Muazzam 1447 Hijri will be observed on Wednesday, January 21, 2026.
Maulana Abdul Khabir Azad reviewed moon sighting reports in Islamabad along with central and zonal committee members, technical experts, and prominent religious scholars from all schools of thought.
The meeting, convened by the Ministry of Religious Affairs, was held on the rooftop of the Kohsar Block.
Shaban moon likely to be sighted in Pakistan on Jan 20
According to the Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, no testimony of the sighting of the Shaban moon was received from any part of the country.
Consequently, the first of Shaban will be observed on January 21, while Shab-e-Barat will be marked on February 3, 2026.
Earlier, astronomers had predicted that the chances of sighting the Shaban moon on January 19 were extremely low.
SUPARCO had also indicated that the first of Shaban was likely to fall on January 21.
