Karachi mayor announces Rs10m aid for martyred firefighter's family

Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab announces Rs10 million compensation, job, and education support for family of martyred firefighter Furqan, also renaming Nazimabad Fire Station after him.
KARACHI (Web Desk) - Mayor Karachi Barrister Murtaza Wahab has announced a financial assistance package of Rs10 million for the family of firefighter Furqan, who was martyred during the rescue operation at Gul Plaza.
The mayor visited the home of the fallen firefighter, where he expressed condolences to the bereaved family and paid tribute to Furqan’s courage and sense of duty. He said the martyred firefighter set a lasting example of bravery and national service, which would always be remembered.
Barrister Murtaza Wahab further announced that the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) will provide employment to Furqan’s widow, while all educational expenses of his child will be borne by the institution.
In recognition of his services, the Nazimabad Fire Station will be renamed after Shaheed Furqan. The mayor also assured that all retirement benefits and monthly salaries would continue to be paid regularly to the widow.
He reaffirmed that KMC stands firmly with its brave firefighters and will continue to support them in every difficult time. Municipal Commissioner Karachi Syed Muhammad Afzal Zaidi and other officials were also present on the occasion.
