ISLAMABAD (Web Desk) - Federal Minister for Information Ataullah Tarar has strongly condemned the false media campaign targeting Pakistan after the Bondi Beach shooting in Australia.
Addressing foreign media, he called the December 14 attack "very sad and highly condemnable" and expressed Pakistan’s solidarity with the people and government of Australia.
Tarar highlighted that a deliberate misinformation campaign from hostile countries claimed, without evidence that one of the attackers was from Lahore. The minister clarified that Indian authorities later confirmed the suspect was from Hyderabad, India, with passport verification supported by Philippine authorities.

He emphasised that Pakistan, as a longstanding victim of terrorism, understands the pain of such attacks, recalling the Army Public School tragedy in Peshawar. Tarar criticised international media outlets for spreading unverified claims and praised Australian authorities for handling the investigation professionally without rushing to conclusions.
The minister also underscored Pakistan’s consistent condemnation of terrorism globally and raised concerns over reputational damage caused by false media reports, questioning accountability for these misleading narratives. He further pointed to India’s role in supporting terrorist incidents in Pakistan’s Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa regions, presenting evidence of funding and planning attacks.
