US Centcom chief felicitates COAS Asim Munir
WASHINGTON - US Centcom chief discusses Michael "Erik" Kurilla felicitated Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Gen Asim Munir on assuming charge of his new responsibility.
A statement from US Centcom spokesman Col Joe Buccino said that Gen Kurilla spoke via video teleconference with new Pakistan Army Chief.
General Munir and General Kurilla have a previously established relationship from General Kurilla s time as CENTCOM Chief of Staff, he said
“General Kurilla congratulated General Munir on his new position and the two leaders discussed US-Pakistan security cooperation efforts and strengthening the bilateral relationship,” reads the statement.
Gen Munir assumed command of the Pakistan Army on November 29, replacing former COAS Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa. A change of command ceremony was held at the General Headquarters in Rawalpindi.
